Dear Diary - I'm President
Following on from the likes of Courtney Love and Andy Warhol another celeb's private musings are heading for the bookshops.
Former US President Ronald Reagan's handwritten diaries have been transcribed and are due to go head to head with the new Harry Potter on the bestseller lists.
Potter is the anointed one, born to lead the battle between good and evil in a world populated by monsters, Reagan, on the other hand, just thought he was.
While fighting off the evil spread of communism Ronnie would take time out to watch his old Hollywood mates on the VCR as this excerpt from January 1981, published in Vanity Fair magazine, shows: "We have definite evidence Nicaragua transferring hundreds of tons of arms from Cuba to El Salvador. P.M. ran a movie - Tribute - Jack Lemmon. He is truly a great performer," Reagan wrote.
He also writes of moments when Middle East tensions made him think thought the end was nigh.
May 15, 1981: "Sometimes I wonder if we are destined to witness Armageddon."
Then three weeks later on June 7: "Got word of Israel bombing of Iraq - nuclear reactor. "I swear I believe Armageddon is near."
However, it's not all global concerns.
Closer to home Reagan showed signs of petulance towards his son Ron junior similar to fellow actor Alec Baldwin.
R.J. (a liberal and former ballet dancer) wasn?t that keen on having bodyguards following him about and his dad thought he was rude to his mother, Nancy Reagan.
"I'm not talking to him until he apologises for hanging up on me," the president wrote.
There is no mention whether Ronnie liked or even heard any of the songs inspired by his presidency; such as the Minutemen's punk classic If Reagan Played Disco, Prince's Ronnie talk to Russia or Gil Scott-Heron's Re-Ron.
